About/Master Marie

Who is Master Marie?

Master Marie is the creator and founder of Seloundo. He has been practising martial arts since 1971. His energy is mainly spent propagating the positive aspects of martial arts through Seloundo.

However, this site is not about him, but you the future student. The photos are just a tiny peep into his past since discovering martial arts in the early 70's to his degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences in 2004. The knowledge gained and his experiences in martial arts opened the door to a "new way" of teaching, more suited to the individual.

As a pioneer Master Marie is involved in a variety of organisations to further the reputation of Seloundo; as a tool to improve the physical and psychological fitness of each student. But his most demanding work is for the safety of children in martial arts. He is engaged with the ISA and working tirelessly with other agencies to ensure that martial art instructors are suited to teach.

In persuit of this notion, Master Marie is currently half way through his MA in 'Selfguarding and Protection of children in sport' at Brunel University. After which he will be the only person in the UK with such a qualification in martial arts.

He is a great believer in the truth and in fairness, and sees obstacles as a "creation of the mind" which we are constantly reminded of during lessons.  He says modestly "if I can do it, you can all do it" not to impress but to inspire. inspiration does not come in more abundance than being in a session taken by Master Marie. Seloundo is all about common sense, there are no secrets. That is why so many students appreciate his teaching, because it is all about them and not Master Marie...the way it should be.

A big thank you. To residents in Guidford who so generously donated cash for the endurance walk I did on the High Street and North Street for Sport Relief on the 19 to the 20 March.
