This will help you to practise to autonomy, specific techniques, timing, accuracy, and fluidity of predetermined movements whilst in motion and against shadow opponents.
During learning we go through three processes; Cognitive: where the learner has no prior knowledge of the task he has embarked on. Associative: where the person is more aware of the task, but is not fully competent and still need guidance. Then Autonomous: at this stage the person is totally aware, capable and can work independently.
By going through this process in forms, you take control of all your actions and acquire the necessary skills to defend yourself in the street and during sparring. In sport this is known as the ‘Flow Zone’. In the end you will be able to demonstrate power via speed, technique through focus, and accuracy through imagery. By the time you have reached your black belt you will be creating your own forms relevant to your own ability and to suit the environment you are used to.
